Let Your Food Be Your Medicine


"Eat your food as medicine, or you will eat medicine as food" - Hippocrates

Regardless of this saying, many of us continue to pop medicines in an attempt to remedy our daily ailments. But what if we stopped, and started feeding our bodies foods that would heal, repair and strengthen them before ailments set in?

Every week or so I will be looking at one or more superfoods that we can easily add to our daily meals to naturally strengthen & heal our bodies!


Chia Seeds (shee-ah)

These tiny black seeds pack a noteworthy punch to your whole body, restoring and strengthening as they go. It's no wonder that they were used by Aztec and Mayan warriors, who prized these seeds for their ability to provide sustainable energy, thereby earning the Mayan name “chia” meaning strength. Hoowah!

Sprinkle them raw onto foods & salads, add it to smoothies. It thickens the smoothie while boosting the nutrition. Buy them for about R40 at larger Pick n Pay Stores, Dischem, Health shops.
