One degree of change

Updated: Mar 20, 2019

Hi again

Have you ever had a feeling that some part of your life needs to be changed? Whether its how you eat, exercise, maybe it relates to your finances, or even your social life. Sometimes what we think we need to change is so intimidating that we end up not changing anything at all.

One of my mottos has become "one degree of change at a time". It's true that if a captain of ship altered his course by 1 degree, at first it would be hardly recognisable. However, with every km that passes, that 1 degree would become more pronounced, and would eventually lead to an entirely different destination.

That could be the same with each of us. We don't need to try and fix everything all at once. But why not add/stop/change one thing today, that could change your path significantly.

Once you accomplish this seemingly small task, you'll have the energy and enthusiasm to move onto your next 1 degree challenge.

That was the theme we shared with the cooks from POP (Pathway out of Poverty) Centres, an initiative started by the Goedgedacht Trust. These cooks have to feed more than 100 children at a time. So we were invited to spend a morning with these ladies to share small changes, that could have a large impact on the nutrition and taste to the food that they provide. It was a humbling experience to spend a morning with these wonderful ladies, who have such vast cooking experience and sincere love for the children they serve. Yet, they were all so willing to learn new tips and ideas. We will be definitely be working with them on a more regular basis!

Here's to our 1 degree change this week! Hope you can have one of your own!

From my heart to yours, Nicole Neethling
